A Corvette traveling Eastbound on Veteran's Memorial Highway slammed into trees off the road just West of Broadway Avenue after being cut off by another vehicle. The passenger was ejected out of the back of the convertible after it spun around and impacted the trees, sustaining minor injuries. The driver remained pinned in the vehicle as the driver side door, and dashboard were crushed in. The Eastbound side of the highway was shut down during the rescue. Holbrook F.D. E.M.S. kept the patient stable as firefighters along with S.C.P.D.-E.S.U. were cutting, and spreading the car away from the patient in an attempt to free his legs. The driver was conscious and alert throughout the extracation. Both patients were transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
